Happy New Year to everyone from us here at Croombs!  Here are some resolutions which you might want to consider for you and your business in the coming year:

  1. Are your accounts in a muddle?  Do you still use complicated spreadsheets or worse still manual records?  If so, consider moving to an online accounting system which will save you money and transform the way you look at your business.  You will save a huge amount of time which you could put to better use, whether it’s spending more time with your family or investing more time in your business.
  2. Review the quotes or proposals you prepared for potential customers last year.  Maybe it’s worth contacting them again to see if their situations have changed or whether they need your help again this year?
  3. If you haven’t done so already, make sure that your personal tax return is submitted to HMRC before the end of January.  It will be a huge weight off of your mind and will avoid any penalties should you miss the deadline.  If you don’t know how to do this, contact us and we’ll be happy to help you!
  4. Promote your business more locally.  Consider attending some local networking events to raise your profile and show people you are looking for business.  There are plenty of events for all confidence levels.  We attend many locally, and if you would like to know more about these please contact us.
Monitor your accounts a little more.  Are you making large amounts of profit and you need some help to reduce your tax bill (legally!)? Alternatively, if your business is struggling, try to dissect areas of the business to find out where you are losing money and why.  Your Accountant will be able to help with this or there are many business coaches around who make a living out of helping businesses maximise their potential.
